Career Development Conference & Career Expo

Work Readiness Skills in Action

JOG’s annual Career Development Conference provides a unique opportunity for JOG participants to work readiness skill competitions as well as career exploration. Over 300 JOG participants attend the event, showing off everything they’ve learned through JOG through competitions around work readiness skills, public speaking, financial literacy, and more! When not competing, youth participate in the Career Expo presented by AUI to engage with local employers, explore industries and career paths, and even apply for jobs!

Event Date: March 19, 2025 at John S. Knight Center

  • Career Development Conference Competitions

This dynamic event unites students from Summit, Stark, Medina, Trumbull, and Ashland Counties, featuring up to twelve skill competitions that focus on honing soft skills cultivated through JOG’s programming, including career preparation, creative decision-making, and employability skills. The conference also serves as a recognition platform, allowing JOG participants to showcase competencies gained in the classroom through the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) National Recognition and Competitive Events Program, along with participation in various JAG activities.

  • Participants Engage with Employers at the Career Expo

Employers and community partners can participate during the Career Development Conference through the Career Expo presented by AUI going on at the same time!

The Career Expo provides lots of interactive experiences where youth practice their soft skills, explore potential career paths, and even seek employment. JOG participants who are searching for a job and impress an employer may even be interviewed at the expo!
