Alumni in Action: Darshawn @ Dklutch Kreations
When former Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates participant Darshawn returned to JOG for a recent Board of Directors meeting, it wasn’t as a student this time, it was as a successful business owner.
Now the proud owner of Dklutch Kreations, his own catering business, Darshawn had been invited to provide food the meeting, an opportunity that made the day feel especially meaningful. He prepared a delicious spread featuring roasted chicken, creamy mashed potatoes, homemade mac and cheese, bang-bang broccoli, sliders served on freshly baked Hawaiian bread, and more. Every dish was made from scratch in his own kitchen, a true reflection of his dedication and talents.
As he set up the meal and made sure everything was ready, Darshawn took a moment to reconnect with two familiar faces, his former Career Specialists, Pamela and Bridget. Both were thrilled to see him again and proud to witness the progress he’s made since his time in the JOG program!
For Darshawn, this experience was about more than serving food. It was a moment to give back and show appreciation to the program that helped him trailblaze his own path. Through JOG, he learned soft skills that he has continued to build upon, such as professionalism, time management, and perseverance. These skills continue to guide him as a young entrepreneur.
Moments like this highlight what makes the JOG experience so special. Each student leaves with more than career readiness; they leave with lasting connections and a network of support that continues long after graduation.
Darshawn’s journey from student to business owner is proof that success can grow from hard work, encouragement, and opportunity.
