JOG the Web: 2025 Summer Work Program

We Are Gearing Up for the 2025 Summer Work Program!

As spring begins to roll in, we are already starting to think about the Summer Work Program here at JOG! Helping students reach their full academic and career potential is at the heart of what we do, and this program helps us do that within our backyard! Of course, we can’t do this without the help of our amazing employer partners who offer their workplaces and provide career guidance, mentorship, and positive learning environments for our participants.

But…what is the JOG Summer Work Program?

The summer work program at JOG covers 5 counties and begins as the school year ends. This program offers hands-on workforce experience to students with JOG employer partners.

We do this by building partnerships with organizations that understand the importance of our goal who then provide workplaces for young adults that need a chance to grow and receive guidance. While employed in the program, students receive career guidance through hands-on training and work experience, learn about career paths by seeing it first hand and working in those industries, too.

What does this program look like in action?

 JOG works to match youth with employers in their interested career field and at a location they can reach, as the program participants often walk or take the bus to work.

During their summer employment, students will continue to be in contact with a Workplace Supervisor, who regularly stops into their workplace to check in on them, see if everything is going well, grab photos with them on the jobsite, and help resolve any other needs the participant may have. This helps our students still feel supported while in their new workplace and helps JOG offer additional support to the employer partner with mentoring and guidance as to how the student can continue to learn and grow. As with every year, we are happy to be able to continue this program. It builds student confidence while also building up our community partners.
