Marquita Mitchell

Executive Director Project Learn of Summit County

Marquita Mitchell has more than 18 years of experience in adult basic education. She served as Project Learn’s Program Director for 12 years overseeing its educational programming. Ms. Mitchell is recognized among her adult education peers across the state having served as an Adult Basic and Literacy Education Program Manager with the Ohio Department of Higher Education in Columbus for 3.5 years. In this role, she oversaw adult basic and literacy education programs across the state for program compliance and provided technical assistance and support to programs. Ms. Mitchell returned to Project Learn in 2017 as Executive Director to continue her passion for helping adults succeed through education. Ms. Mitchell received her Master of Arts degree from Kent State University. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and a graduate of Leadership Akron Class 36. Ms. Mitchell also serves on the boards of Athena Akron and the Joy Park Neighborhood Federation.

Marquita joined the JOG Boar in 2019. She serves on the JOG board because its mission and values contribute to improving and elevating the lives of youth in our community. JOG’s diverse programming allows its participants to find rewarding careers that lead to professional growth. The JOG team’s commitment, service, and dedication to their mission is why she is proud to serve as a board member of the organization.
